National Bancshares Corporation of Texas, ("NBC of Texas") announced today that on September 30,1996 they have completed the acquisition of Luling Bancshares, Inc., the one bank holding company of The First National Bank in Luling.

In making the announcement, Jay H. Lustig, Chairman of the Board of NBC of Texas stated, " This is a win-win agreement for the shareholders of both companies, the community of Luling and the officers and staff of The First National Bank in Luling. We are a company of community banks, dedicated to the needs of the communities we serve, the welfare of our employees and the great tradition of independent Texas banking."

The First National Bank in Luling had total assets on June 30, 1996 of $24,464,000. NBC of Texas also owns three other community banks, NBC Bank- Eagle Pass, N.A., NBC Bank-Laredo, N.A., and NBC Bank-Rockdale in addition to a loan production office in San Antonio. Total consolidated assets for NBC of Texas on June 30, 1996 were $281,209,000 and total consolidated capital was 38,728,000.
